Removable partial dentures are resin-based plates that will hold the resin (plastic) teeth. They hold from single
tooth to full set of teeth which can be seen in older people often. Although, these are very comfortable for many
older people over years, But they slowly become loose over a period of years due to reduced bone support to dentures
and finally loses its support
Every patient cannot afford to undergo for a full fixed teeth with
Implants. Few of patients dont have sufficient
bone to undergo fully fixed implant teeth that require 6-8 implants per one jaw in spite of having
affordability.
Best option for such patients is implant supported dentures
that is most economical and less invasive and gives
fixity to the existing dentures. They can be removed once in a day to clean and fix it back as a routine by the
patient.
Brush daily Regular toothpaste can leave abrasive marks and scratches on the braces. Food and plaque can buildup in
these spaces leading to infection. Frequent brushing with special toothpaste helps in removing plaque buildup
avoiding unnecessary staining of the dentures. Hard bristle brushes should be avoided.
Daily rinse Dentures have to be rinsed after every meal to avoid food particles being stuck in between them.
Denture cleaners Dish washing liquids and hand soaps are a good way to clean the dentures. Though, household
cleaning agents should be avoided since they can be extremely abrasive. Usage of bleaching agents should be strictly
avoided.
Ultrasonic cleaning devices Modern ultrasonic devices are available to clean the dentures. They come with containers
which consist of a cleansing solution. When the denture is immersed in the container or tub, the emitted sound waves
assist in the cleansing by dislodging undesirable food particles from the dentures.
Moistening It is essential that the dentures are kept moist when they are not in use. Otherwise, they might dry up
and lose shape. Hot water should be avoided to moisten the dentures.
